Kirwin National Wildlife Refuge in North Central Kansas covers nearly 11,000 acres of various habitats. Over 230 species of birds, over 30 species of mammals, over 35 species of amphibians, and nearly 20 species of fish have been found on the Refuge. The main purpose of Kirwin NWR is to conserve, maintain, and manage wildlife and habitat for migratory birds. It supports diverse wildlife habitats including crop lands, grasslands, streams, open waters, and wetlands.
